Breast Imaging In Women's Health
Imagine a world where women no longer worry about breast cancer. At Westcoast Radiology we are working to provide the best Imaging technology for early detection of Breast disease.
Imaging

Our unparalleled platform of industry leading imaging tools - including Digital mammography, robust magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and powerful ultrasound systems - allow you to follow the latest industry recommendations for breast cancer screening. But our imaging capabilities don't stop there. When you need imaging for staging, therapy planning and monitoring, Westcoast Radiology can provide you with world-class PET/CT and Nuclear Imaging capabilities.
Mammography
Westcoast Radiology is a leader in the field of Digital Mammography. Westcoast Radiology utilizes digital mammography with computer aided detection, or CAD to search for abnormal areas of density.
- Digital mammography allows higher resolution of images and ability to manipulate image.
- CAD provides a second computerized reading and highlight areas of suspected abnormalities.
- Screening and diagnostic mammograms
Breast cancer takes years to develop. Early in the disease, most breast cancers cause no symptoms.
The purpose for using mammography for screening is to find suspicious tissue in a non-symptomatic woman when it is still too small to be felt by you or your doctor. Imaging technologies such as mammography reveal small changes in tissue that may indicate presence of breast cancer. Finding small breast cancers this way greatly improves a woman’s chance for successful treatment. A diagnostic exam may be comprised of mammogram and takes place when a woman has a breast complaint or had an abnormality found during a screening exam. Often times, what appeared to be an abnormality in the exam is determined to be normal on further examination. Sometimes the diagnostic work-up may include an ultrasound and MRI.

Breast Ultrasound
Ultrasound is firmly established in the world of breast imaging, and is frequently used as an adjunct to mammography to determine if a lump or mass is solid tissue or if it is simply a fluid filled cyst. Westcoast Radiology has the GE LOGIQ® family of ultrasound systems.

Breast MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging has emerged as an advanced problem-solving tool to assist in diagnosing and staging disease as well as monitoring response to therapy. In addition, the American Cancer Society recently released recommendations for the use of MRI for screening women at increased risk for breast cancer. Westcoast Radiology offers you the highest quality of breast MRI images on the 3T magnet with specially designed coils and software as well as the option to perform on the high-field OPEN MRI.

PET/CT
The GE PET/CT is a unique technology that allows you to simultaneously acquire both functional and anatomical information. The PET/CT systems can assist you in staging recurrent or metastatic disease, therapy planning and monitoring response to therapy. The GE Discovery PET/CT is at the top cancer hospitals in the nation-MD Anderson, John Hopkins, Duke, Stanford, and now at Westcoast Radiology.
